Summary of Function

 Responsible for the custody and transportation of prisoners.

 Maintaining security at various Court locations.

 Performing the duties of the Court Liaison Officer, Drug Exhibits Liaison Officer, Training Officer, Document Services Officer and Court Booking Officer on a rotating basis.

Key Qualifications

 Must not have any criminal charges pending before the courts.

 Must be in possession of valid Special Constable Certification from Applicant Testing Services Inc. (ATS) AND successfully pass ATS’s vision and hearing tests. Vision standards: Uncorrected: 20/40; Corrected: 20/30; Normal peripheral; Normal colour acuity. Hearing standards: Normal hearing between 500 and 4,000

 NOTE: Valid OACP (Police Constable) certification from ATS (which already includes vision and hearing testing), is also acceptable.

 Must have a minimum of one year of experience working in a customer service environment or with the general public

 Must be a fully licensed driver and meet the requirements of the Graduated Licensing System in the Province of Ontario and have accumulated no more than six demerit points. A good driving record is essential.

 Must have (or be willing and eligible to obtain) valid CPR (Level “C”) and Standard First Aid.

 Ability to work in a stressful and diverse environment

 Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

 Good judgement, effective conflict resolution skills along with excellent communication skills in order to deal with members of the Service and the public in a professional and tactful manner.

 Excellent team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision when needed

Conditions of Employment

 Must pass the required Toronto Police Service driving test to operate a police vehicle

 Deemed medically fit for the position through a medical assessment

 Successful completion of the Court Officer Training Program

 Meet all requirements to attain the status of a Special Constable as outlined by the Ministry
