We Remember & We Celebrate
August 1st is Emancipation Day, which acknowledges the Slavery Abolition Act passed on August 1st, 1834. It marks a significant moment in the fight for freedom, for both enslaved Black and Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
ABLE encourages everyone to take a moment to reflect on the bravery and sacrifices of our ancestors and all who paved the way for a better future: Although we are reminded that the fight for equality continues today.
